We are thrilled to share some fantastic news with our supporters and community! Somers Philanthropy, in collaboration with Mike's POP Shop, has been awarded a generous grant from Spark Good, Walmart’s community grant program. This funding will significantly boost our efforts in our latest initiative, Tools For A Brighter Future.
About the Program: Tools For A Brighter Future
Tools For A Brighter Future is a program designed to provide essential school supplies to children in need. Our mission is to ensure that every child has the necessary tools to succeed academically and to help lighten the load for families who may struggle to afford these supplies.
With the grant provided by Spark Good, we are excited to announce that we are able to create 48 backpacks filled with school supplies! These backpacks include everything from notebooks and pencils to folders, crayons, and other essential items that students need to thrive in their educational journey.
Picking Up the Supplies
Today was a significant milestone for us as we picked up all the supplies needed to fill these backpacks. The excitement of knowing that these resources will soon be in the hands of students who need them most is incredibly fulfilling. The backpacks are now ready, and they are packed with love and care, each one aiming to support a child's educational development and success.
Next Steps: Finding the Right School
Our next step is to partner with a local school where we can distribute these backpacks. We are actively reaching out to schools in our community to identify where the need is greatest. If you know of a school that could benefit from this program, please let us know! We are eager to work with educational institutions to ensure these supplies reach the children who will benefit from them the most.
